Jeanie Marie Buss (born Jeanie Marie Buss) is an American woman who is a businesswoman. Her current position is that as president of the Los Angeles Lakers, the NBA's majority owners. The California born Buss grew up in an upper class family. Jerry Buss is her father. He was an estate tycoon, and later the manager of Lakers, among other businesses. The emotional strain she felt was exacerbated when her parents separated in 1972. When she was 19 years old, she began working for the family business as the general manager for the Los Angeles Strings professional tennis team. Then, she established the Los Angeles Blades roller hockey professional team. In the beginning, she was vice-president of the Lakers before taking on the presidency of Great Western Forum. Her father died in 2013, and his control over control of the Lakers was inherited by Buss as well as her siblings via a trust for the family which gave each sibling the same vote. Buss assumed the role of the president of Los Angeles Lakers. Buss co-owns Women of Wrestling an pro-wrestling promotion company that is based in Los Angeles.
